LRC Graduate Trainee

Contract: Fixed Term, 1st September 2010 to 31st August 2011
Salary: £16,353 to £18,303 (subject to experience)
Hours: 37 per week
If you are interested in a career in librarianship/information management and would value the opportunity to gain experience of working in this field, a graduate traineeship at East Surrey College could be the first step on your career path.
The successful candidate will benefit from training and work experience in the provision of library and information services to students and staff, which will enable them to apply for a postgraduate course in Library and Information Studies leading to professional qualifications. Training will be given in a variety of areas, including the library management system, circulation and enquiry desk, journals management, interlibrary loans, acquisitions, cataloguing and classifying. There will also be opportunities to attend relevant external visits and training events.
Candidates must be degree holders or expecting to graduate in 2010. Experience of working in a library or learning centre would be beneficial but not essential.
